GFA: Chris Hughton’s hiring was primarily based on continuity

Chris Hughton has been appointed as the new head coach of the Black Stars, the senior national team of Ghana, by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Following the resignation of the former coach, Otto Addo, this appointment was made.

The GFA emphasized in a statement the value of continuity in Hughton’s selection.

The association is of the opinion that the Black Stars will be able to build on the advancements made under the previous coach and take advantage of the momentum created by their World Cup qualification if stability and familiarity are maintained within the squad.

“Continuity was a major factor in the appointment of Chris Hughton as the new coach,” the GFA said in a statement.

“The decision to appoint Hughton, who previously served as the teams technical advisor, was aimed at maintaining stability and a sense of familiarity within the team.”

“This knowledge will help him to build a cohesive and effective tactical plan for the team, as well as ensure a smooth transition as he takes over the reins.”

The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers vs Angola will see the Black Stars play again in March. Hughton will guide the team to victory and assist them in realizing their full potential, the GFA is certain.
