Hughton will replace Coach Otto Addo, who guided the Black Stars to a group stage appearance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar before quitting his job, according to a statement released by the GFA on Sunday.

The German coach left his position to work with Borussia Dortmund as their talent development coach.

Mr. Christ Hughton was a member of the team that competed in the tournament in Qatar and acted as the technical advisor for the Black Stars during the World Cup play-off versus Nigeria.

During the same World Cup competition and play-offs, Didi Dramani and George Boateng assisted Addo.

According to a statement on the GFA website “The Ghana Football Association has the pleasure to appoint Chris Hughton as Head Coach of the Black Stars following extensive deliberation between the two parties.”
