SHS Placement 2023: Find out Whether You Will Attend Your First School of Choice

By | 16 June 2023

We are here to provide you some advice on how to determine whether or not you’ll get your first choice while we wait for the release of the 2023 SHS placement of the BECE graduates.

The SHS placement process in 2023 will be merit-based. In other words, pupils will be assigned to their various institutions depending on their grades and the spots that are open in the schools that they have chosen.

Each senior high school is typically limited in the number of students it can accept. Before assigning students to specific schools, the GES, MOE, and Management of the CSSPS will take into account this and other indicators.

For the past week, 2022 BECE grads have been reaching out to us with questions similar to these and others:

  • Please, I got an aggregate of 18. Can I get my first choice school?
  • Can I get into my second-choice school with my grade of 23?
  • Can I still request general art from St. Augustine with my age of 19?

The following are some factors you can take into account as a candidate for the 2022 BECE who is awaiting admission to any of the schools of your choice to determine if you will receive your first, second, or third school of choice.

  • If you have an aggregated score of less than 20, you may get your first choice if it is in the category A Schools.
  • Students with aggregate scores of less than 30 are more likely to be admitted to their second choice of school.
  • BECE graduates with a grade of less than 36 may be assigned to their third school of choice.
  • Individuals with an aggregate of 36 to 45 may be required to self-place.
  • Please keep in mind that these are projections based on last year’s placement. The CSSPS placement formality may change, and the preceding analysis may no longer be valid.

We will keep you updated as new developments in the school placement system occur.

Meanwhile, students are advised to remain calm and avoid falling prey to scammers who claim to be able to change their placement schools for a fee.
