The Ministry of Education has advised against paying anyone money in any form to guarantee placing JHS graduates in senior high schools.

Just last week Wednesday, February 15th 2023, the Senior High School placement for the 2023–2024 academic year was released by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The selection to Senior High, Technical, Vocational Education and Training schools is solely based on merit, according to the ministry’s spokesman, Kwasi Kwarteng.

According to Mr. Kwarteng, there have been reports that some deceitful people are taking advantage of potential students and unwary parents by taking money from them and promising to help them get into a school of their choice. He further cautioned parents and all that the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) process is merit-based and urged parents never to give money to anyone for placement. Everything will be rectified once they report to the solution centres set up, should they encounter any difficulties.

Those who demand money for school placement should be reported to the police, according to a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) public relations officer, Cassandra Twum Ampofo. The GES also pledged to guarantee a seamless merit-based placement procedure.
