SHS PLACEMENT FOR JHS GRADUATES OUT – GES RELEASES PLACEMENT LIST FOR 2023/2024ACADEMIC YEAR.

On Wednesday, February 15, the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced at a press conference in Accra that for graduates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in 2022, placement into Senior high schools, Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) institutions all across the nation have been released.

A total of 538,399 candidates qualified to be placed into the various senior high schools around the nation out of the 547,329 registered students. Out of the total number of candidates who qualified, 372,780 were automatically enrolled in a variety of schools and about 165,601 candidates who could not be matched with the schools of their choice will have to do self-placement, according to GES.

At the conference, Dr. Eric Nkansah, director general of GES further stated that, First-year students are to present themselves to their various schools of placement on Monday, February 20th, so that proceedings may begin for admissions. Dr. Eric Nkansah further pleaded with the populace to avoid falling prey to fraudulent persons who may approach them to pay money for placement.

How to Access the Placement Platform;

Candidates should follow the instructions below to access the placement platform:

  1. Get a placement pin code from an approved vendor who has been given approval.
  2. Access the website www.cssps.go.gh after receiving the pin code.
  3. Enter the ten-digit index number you used when writing the BECE the add 22 as the year of completion (E.g., **********22).
  4. Now enter the pin code you purchased (serial number and pin)
  5. Wait for the placement to appear after clicking submit.
  6. Print the application of the school you were placed in and report to the school premises to start the admissions process.

How to do Self-Placement;

Candidates will be forwarded to the Self-Placement portal if none of their choices from the automatic placement system matches them. By entering the information below, choose a school from the portal:

  2. residential preference
  3. school program of choice
  4. select “Submit”
  5. To start the admissions process, print the application and go to the school.

It should be noted that candidates may change the schools they have chosen on the self-placement portal as many times as they like up until the time they enroll in a school.

Reporting Day;

The first-year students are expected to arrive at school on Monday, February 20th, in accordance with the 2023 academic calendar. Students should therefore report to their institutions on the said date in order to register and maybe receive orientation before classes officially begin on February 27th, 2023.

According to a transitional calendar made public last week, freshmen enrolled in the double-track program are scheduled to come to school on February 20th and take a break on April 13th. They will have to report back to school on June 9th and go on their second break on August 10th.

However, the schedule for students who got placed in schools that run the single-track system is a little different. Although reporting on the same day as their peers in the double-track institutions, they will take a break on April 5th, reconvene on April 17th, and stay in school until their academic year comes to an end on September 15th.
