Mr. Ankamah further stated that the FDA opened the Western North Regional office in October 2022 and had established measures to guarantee food safety in the region.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Regional Director urged customers to be vigilant by reading labels and watching out for the FDA registration numbers on products produced in Ghana to determine the originality of purchased products.

Mr. Samuel Darkwah, Chief Environmental officer of Wiawso Municipal Assembly, supervised the exercise at the Wiawso dumping site and commended the establishment of the Food and Drugs Authority in the Region, saying it had upheld food safety in the area through its supervisory duties, particularly among food vendors.

The Senior Environmental Officer urged retailers to check the expiry dates of all products and confirm they have the FDA-approved logo to maintain customer safety.
