Salary and Requirements

Revenue: R147 036 per annum (Level 03)
Centre: Olifantsfontein

Requirements:

  • A Grade 10, ABET Level 3 certificate plus suitable experience as a general employee
  • Basic literacy certificate
  • Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Capability to perform general work of fixing, repairing, hand tools, and power tools
  • Good knowledge of fixing, repairing, and changing equipment and materials
  • Excellent communication skills, including good listening skills
  • Willingness to follow instructions from supervisor
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with staff or residents of the building in a positive manner
  • Basic skills to address leaks, clogs or drainage problems
  • Basic technical skills

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the General Maintenance Worker will include:

  • Reading and identifying equipment or machines in need of repairs
  • Performing general repairs that do not require a specialized technician
  • Trading office globe, repairing door handle, painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures
  • Performing routine maintenance on building systems
  • Cleaning and helping with the maintenance of the facilities
  • Working on minor damaged electric wiring when scarcity or severed wire occurs
  • Solving potential safety hazards to avoid accidents
  • Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped
