Salary and Requirements
Revenue: R147 036 per annum (Level 03)

Requirements:
- A Grade 10, ABET Level 3 certificate plus suitable experience as a general employee
- Basic literacy certificate
- Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Capability to perform general work of fixing, repairing, hand tools, and power tools
- Good knowledge of fixing, repairing, and changing equipment and materials
- Excellent communication skills, including good listening skills
- Willingness to follow instructions from supervisor
- Interpersonal skills to interact with staff or residents of the building in a positive manner
- Basic skills to address leaks, clogs or drainage problems
- Basic technical skills
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the General Maintenance Worker will include:
- Reading and identifying equipment or machines in need of repairs
- Performing general repairs that do not require a specialized technician
- Trading office globe, repairing door handle, painting, repairing doors and other building fixtures
- Performing routine maintenance on building systems
- Cleaning and helping with the maintenance of the facilities
- Working on minor damaged electric wiring when scarcity or severed wire occurs
- Solving potential safety hazards to avoid accidents
- Painting the building when old paint has become faded or chipped
