How to Gain Admission into Your Dream School in 2023 SHS Placement

By | 9 March 2023

Candidates who took the exam are anticipating being admitted to the institutions of their choice for the 2023 SHS Placement for BECE graduates.

You must be aware as a candidate that all candidates will be placed according to the schools they chose for 2023 through the CSSPS portal.

If you recall, all candidates, their parents, and legal guardians had access to the school verification and confirmation portal from January 14 to January 22 of 2023 to confirm the schools they had chosen.

  • All candidates were asked to rank their top five preferences among the colleges in categories A, B, and C.
  • Each option must have a preference for a program and accommodations.
  • Only one school from Category A schools may be chosen, and
  • Schools in Category B may be chosen twice. A candidate may pick each of the five options in category C.
  • Candidates must also choose a required day from category D as their sixth option.

Students will be placed in these schools based on their selections, confirmations, and verifications by the candidates and their parents in the 2023 SHS Placement.

How to Get into Your Dream School.

Ensure that your results are inside the school’s cutoff range.

Based on their grades and the types of schools they have selected, the school placement system has been programmed to automatically put kids. Applicants with an overall score of 6 to 15 have the best chance of being accepted into Category A schools.

It is likely that a student will be assigned to Accra Girls, Presby Boys Senior High School, Legon, Tamale Senior High School, Ghana Senior High School, Bolga Girls Senior High School, T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Kumasi, Prempeh College, and other schools if those are among their first school choices.

It’s important to remember that just because your aggregate is within the range mentioned above doesn’t guarantee you’ll get the option of your choosing. There are times when you’ll get a grade, like an 8 or 9, but you won’t get into your first choice of school.

For illustration, let’s say your top selection is Achimota Senior High School and your overall score is 9. All pupils who selected Achimota Senior High School as their top option and had an overall score of 6 to 8 will be placed ahead of those who had an overall score of 9 during the placement process.

If you’re not lucky, the school’s allotted space will be filled by the time the system finishes putting these students. The system will then assign you to your second or third choice school in that case.

Examine your placement as soon as you can.

Checking your school placement as soon as possible is always a smart idea. This will assist you in getting to know your placement school so you can go forward if you are not placed.

The opportunity to self-place in any of the various schools is provided to candidates who have not been assigned by the system. If you check your placement early and discover that you have not been placed, you will have time to choose the nearest school before most of them fill up.

You Must Attend Your Placement School During the Assigned Time

A student can be assigned to a particular institution, but acceptance into that school is a very different matter. If you have been assigned to a school of your choosing, you must show up there right away to be admitted.

There are situations where a kid is assigned to a school, but the administration decides not to admit the student because of rules or other considerations.

The student will need to request a reposting if that occurs. Therefore if you find yourself in that circumstance, arriving at school early will help you resolve the problem.
