Future Pioneers in Public Health Internship with WHO: To advance the goals of global health, each health system must have a capable and innovative health workforce at its core.
Countries require a pool of health professionals who have been educated about and exposed to the systems and procedures in the healthcare industry and who are familiar with how different stakeholders interact on a global scale.
Building a diverse pool of potential public health leaders is a priority for WHO, which is the world authority on public health concerns.
The WHO Internship Program provides a variety of chances for college students and recent grads to learn more about the technical and administrative initiatives of WHO, to diversify their knowledge and experience, and to enhance public health.
Goals of the WHO Global Internship
- to offer a structure for placing qualified students from various academic backgrounds in WHO programs where they can improve their educational experience through chances for capacity building.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the WHO Global Internship for Future Leaders in Public Health, students must be:
- age of twenty or older on the application date.
- enrolled in a program at a university or comparable institution leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), in a field of public health, medicine, or social work associated with the technical work of WHO, or in a field associated with management, administration, communications, or external relations.
- If they submit an application for the internship within six months of receiving their formal qualification, candidates who have previously earned a degree or other credential may also be eligible for consideration.
- prior to beginning the internship, have completed three years of full-time study at a university or other institution of equal standing (bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- at least one of the working languages of the assignment office is well-versed.
- Not linked to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
- those who have a current passport from a WHO Member State.
- Individuals who have never taken part in the internship program at WHO.
