University of  Ghana Non-Degree Programmes

In addition to degree, diploma, and certificate programs, the University of Ghana offers non-degree programs. This article contains further information on the non-degree programs available at the University of Ghana.

Diploma in Adult Education

During the long holiday, Legon organizes a program that is both employee and employer friendly. Each batch of sandwich program students studies for two long holiday periods. The program employs a dual teaching method.

This includes eight weeks of rigorous face-to-face teaching, revision, and tests between May and August each year, as well as a series of project tasks and student-lecturer exchanges.

Diploma In Youth Development Work (Commonwealth Youth Programme)

The curriculum lasts four semesters (two academic years). There are currently 14 modules and one project in progress. The student will do the most of his or her learning at home, but he or she will be assisted in learning through other ways, such as regular face-to-face tutoring meetings.


The core modules in the diploma programs are Learning Processes, Young and Society, Principles and Practice of Youth in Development Work, Working with People in Their Communities, Gender and Development Work, Management Skills, Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Policy, Planning and Implementation, Conflict Resolution Strategies and Skills, Promoting Enterprise and Economic Development and Environmental Issues and Introduction to Methodology of Social Investigation.
