Difference between Diploma in Education and Post Graduate Diploma in Education

By | 15 June 2023

The Diploma in Education is an independent study program at the University, while the Graduate Diploma in Education is a one-year supplementary course for anyone who has a degree in fields other than education and wants to teach under the Education Service from Ghana.

The required mode of entry for a diploma in education in Ghana is a WASSCE or SSCE, while the accepted mode of entry for the postgraduate diploma in education is a bachelor’s degree.

Furthermore, people with a bachelor’s degree in non-educational courses can also undertake a one-year Diploma in Education program and still become professional teachers in Ghana and be employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

However, the difference is that the Graduate Diploma in Education is recognized worldwide for graduate teachers with experience in non-teaching programmes.

The Diploma in Education is not accepted in most countries, even if you add it to your non-educational first degree course.
