John Mahama moved by Ghana’s economic crisis and expresses disappointment in lack of consensus.

Former President John Dramani Mahama shared his thoughts on the current economic situation in the country through a Facebook post. He expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the economy and the involvement of the President, Finance Minister, and Economic Management Team.

In his post, Mahama highlighted his past efforts to initiate a genuine dialogue and find a national consensus on an economic program, but expressed regret that the lack of cooperation from the current administration resulted in the current economic state.

He touched upon the missed opportunity to come to a non-partisan agreement on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout and debt restructuring program, adding that it seems too late now.

Mahama’s comments were in response to former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo joining pensioners in picketing at the Finance Ministry to demand exemption from the domestic debt exchange program.
