JAMB Warns Against Fraudulent Social Media Accounts of Prof. Oloyede.
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has debunked claims that he owns or operates any social media accounts. In a statement released by the board’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Oloyede distanced himself from friend requests purportedly being sent from social media accounts in his name.
According to the statement, the Registrar is not on any social media platform and has not asked anyone to open or manage an account on his behalf.
The statement particularly addressed a LinkedIn account that was created in Oloyede’s name, allegedly to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. The Board clarified that LinkedIn is a social networking site designed for the business community, which Prof. Oloyede does not belong to nor intend to join.
The disclaimer became necessary due to unscrupulous individuals who have opened a LinkedIn account in the name of the Registrar, with bogus claims of helping to network business enterprises, managing careers, providing jobs, running a research firm, or connecting people with business contacts of firms or industry through the account.
The Board, therefore, warned the public to be cautious of these criminal elements and avoid falling victim to their fraudulent schemes.
