JAMB 2023 UTME/DE registration: details of the application process

The 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB 2023 UTME/DE Registration) Form is now on sale. Please keep in mind that registration can only be done by JAMB-accredited centers and JAMB state offices.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the 2023 JAMB Direct Entry Registration will begin on Monday, February 20, and will end on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

JAMB Direct Entry is intended primarily for those who already hold a degree / diploma, or a-level certificates and wish to pursue a degree program at a university.

Those who gain admission to a university through direct entry will typically begin at the Part 2 or 200 level, assuming they were offered admission.

How to Apply for 2023 JAMB Direct Entry

This is how to apply for JAMB:

  1. For the registration process, each candidate would need to use a unique phone (mobile) number (SIM). Only one candidate may use the unique phone number (Note: This number (SIM) remains your unique identification for all transactions with the board.
  2. Candidate will text (SMS) his/her National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019 or 66019 from his/her personal GSM number, for example, write “NIN” then space and add your 11 digit NIN Number and send to 55019 or 66019 in this format (NIN 00123456789). Between the word “NIN” and your 11-digit NIN, there should be a space. (It should be noted that the number cannot have previously been used by another person to register for UTME/DE.)
  3. On the same telephone (SIM) number, the candidate receives a Profile Code of 10 characters.
  4. The text message phone number is automatically linked to the candidate’s 2023 application, Examination, and Admission. CANDIDATES SHOULD NOTICE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER THE SIM NUMBER USED, AS IT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUBSEQUENT COMMUNICATION WITH THE BOARD BY OBTAINING UTME/DE APPLICATION DOCUMENTS, A CANDIDATE HAS ACCEPTED TO RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES FROM JAMB (55019 OR 66019) EVEN WHEN THE “DO NOT DISTURB”
  5. The candidate presents the profile code to the point of form procurement (Banks, MMOs, MFBs, Switches, USSD Partners). The form-ePIN is then texted to the candidate’s phone number.
  6. For registration, the candidate must present the ePIN at any JAMB-accredited CBT Centre.
  7. The application cannot be submitted until the candidate’s biometrics (all ten fingers) are captured and a physical photograph is taken (No submission of passport photograph). After successfully capturing biometrics and a photograph, a candidate will be able to print his or her e-registration slip. The finger print will be required for any future transactions on the candidates’ profile with JAMB.
  8. Only candidates whose biometrics verification is successful on the day of the examination will be allowed to take the UTME. No parent or proxy is permitted to conduct any transaction on the candidates’ profiles.
  9. Candidates who have biometric issues can only register at the JAMB headquarters in Abuja.
