IEB Matric Results Are Now Available for Viewing. The IEB Matric Class of 2022 exam results were announced today. Notwithstanding the difficult circumstances that students had to face during the exam period, there have been some observable gains.

The IEB operates within the confines of national law and the rules established by the national quality assurance organization, Umalusi, and is a separate entity from State and Provincial examination boards.

Umalusi has granted IEB accreditation for use in evaluating adult exams at NQF Level 1 and the National Senior Certificate.

In accordance with national policy, based on the National Curriculum Standards, and using a variety of assessment methods, including final summative examination and continuous assessment—i.e., orals, practicals, and portfolios—the IEB offers examinations at the Grade 12 level for client schools.

The School Section employs qualified educators who are currently working as instructors in a variety of subject disciplines and operates in accordance with Umalusi regulations and higher education policies.

These educators participate actively in IEB Subject User Groups, which discuss the curriculum and offer advice on assessment procedures based on actual classroom experience. The IEB provides evaluations, such as global benchmarking exams at other levels, to participating schools.

The IEB matric class of 2023 passed their matric examinations with a pass percentage of 98.42%, which is just a hair higher than the 98.39% pass rate from the previous year.

At midnight on Tuesday, this cohort received its matric results.

The percentage of IEB students who passed the bachelor’s degree exam rose from 88.41% in 2021 to 89.32% in 2022. However, the percentage of people who passed the entry-level Diploma exams fell from 7.82% in 2021 to 7.52% in 2022.

The percentage of candidates who passed at the Higher Certificate level rose from 1.37% in 2021 to 1.57% in 2022.

The successful candidates will be eligible to enroll in one of the three levels of tertiary education. The IEB class of 2022 was made up of 12 580 full-time students and 945 part-time students who took the IEB examinations in October and November 2022 at 262 testing sites around Southern Africa.

The number of candidates is smaller than the 12 857 full-time and 968 part-time applicants in 2021. This, according to the IEB Board, is partially attributable to the 500 candidates from adjacent SADC nations including Eswatini, Mozambique, and Namibia who enrolled in and took the IEB’s International Secondary Certificate’s inaugural examinations after having previously passed the IEB’s NSC examinations (IEB ISC).

Independent schools located outside of South Africa were no longer permitted to take the National Senior Certificate (NSC) after a recent modification to the regulatory structure in that country. IEB developed the International Senior Certificate as a result (ISC).

Applicants who want to request remarking have until January 31, 2023, and the remarking results are scheduled to be made public on March 1, 2023.
