The Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science, and Technology in Mauritius has announced the Mauritius-Africa Scholarship Scheme, which aims to financially support deserving candidates in paying their tuition fees and covering their living expenses while pursuing their studies in Mauritius.
About Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme
The Government of Mauritius is offering scholarships to outstanding students who are citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries.
Additionally, the scholarship includes a return airfare via the most economical route, which will be applicable for travel from the student’s home country at the start of their studies and returning to their home country upon completing their studies successfully.
Qualification Requirements Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme
To qualify for the Government of Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme, interested applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a resident citizen of a member state of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries.
- For undergraduate programs, applicants should be at least 18 years old and should not be more than 26 years old as of 01 January 2024.
- For PhD programs, applicants should not be more than 40 years old as of 01 January 2024.
- Have already applied for a full-time on-campus program (Diploma, Degree, MPhil or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (listed in Section 8 in the appropriate Guidelines for Applicants) for the academic year starting in 2023.
- The scholarship will cover a maximum duration as indicated below or the minimum course duration, whichever is shorter:
- Undergraduate Diploma – Three (3) years
- Undergraduate Degree – Four (4) years
- MPhil / PhD – Four (4) years + 6 months for the transfer from MPhil to PhD
- PhD – Three (3) years
