Mr. Simms Kofi Mensah established Simms Senior High School as a private school in 1977 to provide education to the people of Kwabre.
In 1982, the school was absorbed into the public system as a Government Assisted Secondary School.
The school currently has a student population of two thousand, five hundred and eighty-four (2584) and a teaching staff of one hundred and twenty-one (121) and sixty non-teaching staff (60).
