ACU offers Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants of up to £2,500

The ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants are currently available to member universities seeking assistance with initiatives that address climate resilience. Staff members may receive up to £2,500 in funding to cover project expenses.

Information About ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants

The ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants offer academic and professional staff a chance to collaborate on initiatives that support the two main strategic priorities of the Commonwealth Climate Resilience Network (CCRN): improving universities’ own climate resilience and enhancing their contributions to the resilience of communities, businesses, and governments.

These grants can be used to fund a wide range of projects, workshops, and events focused on improving learning, teaching, and training for climate change adaptation, increasing research capacity, or developing institutional resilience policies and practices at Commonwealth universities. Some examples of eligible initiatives include virtual exchanges, professional practice collaborations, indigenous knowledge documentation, and contingency planning tools.

Previous grant recipients have implemented various climate action projects in universities across the Commonwealth. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline to receive up to £2,500 in funding for their collaborative projects.

To qualify for the ACU Commonwealth Climate Resilience Challenge Grants, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • The grants are available to members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), and applicants are encouraged to collaborate with other ACU member institutions to promote additional Commonwealth partnerships.
  • Applications led by ACU members but in collaboration with institutions outside our network are also welcome.
  • Grant proposals that enable matching or supplementary funds from the applicant’s institution will be given favorable consideration.

Once you have received the grant, you are required to provide a brief progress report halfway through your project, as well as a comprehensive final report within one month after the completion of your project. It is also essential to share any outputs, such as toolkits, papers, etc. developed through the grants, with the CCRN and the broader ACU network.
