Position Description

The Output 1 Lead will work under the direction of the Deputy Team Lead to provide technical and managerial leadership for all Output 1 activities, such as the creation and distribution of educational materials, in-service and pre-service training, school leadership and community support, monitoring, and evaluation.

In order to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables, the Output 1 lead will be in charge of coordinating with DAI, subcontractors, government stakeholders, and project staff. Upon request, the Output 1 Lead will also give the donor information.

Standard Minimum Requirements

  1. Advanced degree in education with a focus on non-formal education, early grade reading, literacy, and language acquisition.
  2. with a focus on primary education sector work in language acquisition and/or child literacy or reading, particularly in Hausa Language. 5 to 7 years of experience in education reform. A reading or literacy specialist’s certification is preferred.
  3. exhibited abilities for project leadership.
  4. Strongly preferred: Nigerian project management experience.
  5. a track record of success collaborating with the government, partners, local governments, and educational institutions
  6. a demonstrated understanding of early grade reading instruction, assessment, and the creation of reading materials, preferably in Hausa.
  7. extensive knowledge in creating and producing student reading materials, workbooks, trainers’ and teachers’ guides, and educational materials to enhance early grades reading
  8. possesses the capacity to set reasonable priorities, plan for the efficient implementation of activities, and coordinate reading interventions.
    Strong facilitation and leadership skills, as well as experience working with teachers to improve practice
  9. Experience/training in modeling teaching, observing teachers, and giving constructive criticism. Demonstrable knowledge of research-based best practices in teaching content-area reading skills and strategies.
