The BECE results are now available.

The BECE for both school and private applicants, tentative results have been announced, and the West African Examinations Council wishes to inform the general audience.

Both school-based and private candidates took the identical set of exams last year. The Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education shall deliver the results of the school candidates to their respective schools on behalf of the Council.

On the Council’s website, waecgh.org, you can review the results for Private Candidates. Candidates for schools can also view their results online at the Council’s website if they so want.

Statistical data

The total number of candidates that took the school exam was 552,288. There were 276,999 male and 275,289 female candidates. There are also 427 candidates with hearing impairment, 65 candidates with visual impairment, and 54 candidates who require additional test accommodations. 4,309 candidates out of the total that registered for the test were not present.

A total of 1,144 candidates entered the BECE for Private Candidates. 503 females and 641 guys made up this group. 84 candidates out of the total who registered to take the exam were not present.

Examination techniques

After investigations into some of the instances of examination fraud discovered throughout the course of the exams were complete, The following was decided upon at the 33rd meeting of the BECE, 2022 Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointments Committee, held on January 24, 2023:

  • 416 school candidates and 3 private applicants had their subject results canceled for bringing foreign materials into the examination room or conspiring with other candidates, respectively.
  • 38 school candidates’ subject results are being withheld while investigations into numerous allegations of alleged examination fraud are ongoing.
  • 73 school applicants and 2 private candidates had their entire results canceled for bringing cellphones into the exam room.
  • The complete results of 11 school applicants have been withheld while investigations into various incidences of alleged examination fraud are ongoing.

The scripts of candidates from 40 schools in some topics are currently being examined. According to the findings of the investigations, the results of candidates who suppressed them may be canceled or made public.

Tread cautiously

The Council is warning all parties involved to be careful of con artists who claim to be able to improve results in exchange for money. Applicants should be aware that the WAEC results are secure and verifiable.

Summary of findings

The Council would like to extend its deepest gratitude to all parties involved, particularly the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, the Security Agencies, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and all who helped it in various ways to successfully conduct the exams and announce the results.
