Q: WHAT IS NSS PIN CODE?
ANSWER: The PIN CODE is a secret code given by the NSS to enable you to get access to the Online registration form.
Q: Where to get the PIN CODE?
ANSWER: You will check the PIN CODE free from the NSS official website.Only when you are in your final year.
Q. How much is the allowance?
The national service allowance is GHC 559. per month
Q: How will we retrieve the PIN CODE?
ANSWER: You enter your school index number into the check Pincode option on the nss website then provide the date of birth you used to apply for school to access it

Q: Will I pay to check my PINCODE?
ANSWER: No, you check it free from the nss website.
Q: I’m told there’s some payment of 40 or 41 cedis for the pin code.
RESPONSE: Yes you pay an amount of GHS 41 via MTN Mobile Money, or GHS 40 at any ADB bank to activate the Pincode for Online Registration.
The payment is to Grant you access to undertake the online registration without the payment you won’t be permitted to register online.
Q: Please what are we to pay GHC 40 for?
The GHC 40 is the registration fee. Part of the GHC 40 is used to pay your NASPA dues, Printing of NSS ID card & NSS Certificate.
How Can I Pay For NSS PIN CODES?
Immediately after making the GHC 40 payment at ADB BANK.
Or, GHC 41 payment via MTN Mobile Money, your PINCODE becomes automatically activated and you will receive an MTN MOBILE MONEY MESSAGE* as a Confirmation of your payment for the activation of your pincode.
- NSS will also send you a text message as confirmation that, your Payment has been received.
After making the payment, you can then go to the NSS website. open this link

Q: What does it imply if I do not activate my Pincode?
ANSWER: This implies you are not willing to take part in this year’s National Service.
Q: I’m a final-year diploma student. Can I register for this year’s service and also do it again after my top-up or degree?
ANSWER: yes you can register. But note you are not mandated to do it again.
Q: Please can I use any National ID for the Online Registration?
ANSWER: Yes you can use any Valid National ID for the online registration.
NB: you can’t use someone else ID.
Q. What are we supposed to do before the registration starts?
ANSWER: All you have to do now is to wait. Your school will submit all your information to the National Service Scheme (NSS) management.
Q. Can I register with a photocopy of my passport instead of bringing the original copy?
ANSWER: You don’t need a photocopy or the original passport.
In doing the online registration, you will be required to enter only the ID number. So, you will just enter the Passport Number.
Q. Are we supposed to make any payments?
ANSWER: You are not expected to make any payment. The only payment that you’ll make is the registration fee of GHC 40 or GHC 41 using MTN Mobile Money. The registration fee will be paid in May after the Pin Codes have been released.
NOTE: The online Registration will require you to provide one of the following IDs:
- VOTER’S ID
- SSNIT CARD
- PASSPORT
- DRIVER’S LICENSE
Q. Can one decide not to do the service this year?
ANSWER: Yes, You can decide not to do the service this year. You are at liberty to defer national service to a later year. Don’t forget that without the National Service certificate, you cannot get employment in the public sector.
Q. If u already have the NSS pin code from the previous year, can you use it to register for this year?
You cannot use the previous years Pin Code for the current Registration.
A press release was issued in January and the Letter was informing all National service defaulters who could not do the Service in the previous years to:
1. Write a letter requesting a new pin code.
2. Copy of the deferment letter.
3. Submit an Academic certificate
4. Any of the 4 National ID cards.
Q. I have done my National Service already. I did my Diploma before coming for a Degree top-up, would it be possible for me to do my service again this time?
ANSWER: Once you have the NSS Certificate already, there is no need to do the service again.
