It will help ensure a smooth transfer of power ahead of the upcoming presidential election on February 25th, where three main candidates are the top contenders vying to succeed Buhari.

The ruling party’s Bola Tinubu, the main opposition party’s Atiku Abubakar, and a smaller party’s Peter Obi are the top contenders for the presidential position. The winner of the election will be sworn in on May 29th. Nigeria is now officially in transition mode with the signing of the executive order, and the world will be observing as the country moves forward to elect its next leader.
