FRESHMAN YEAR: Prioritisation of Children’s Education-an advise to parents

  • As a sure way to their children’s future security, parents in the Basisan community of the Sissalla East Municipality in the Upper West Region, have been urged to invest in their children’s education.

The Free Senior High School program that the government implemented must be utilized by parents who want to provide their children with a better education, according to Mr. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, the Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation.

He made this statement while visiting some selected local schools as part of the Ghana Education Service’s celebration of “My First Day at School” for kindergarten and primary school students.

For the Basisan Basic School, where he once taught, he pledged to drill a borehole.

The Sissalla East Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Lewil Charles, advised the kids to stay in school so they can learn how to grow to be respectful, responsible individuals. He also advised the parents to keep investing in their kids to stay in school.

“My First Day at School” was attended by 18 students at Tumu United Basic School and 10 students at KG One.

  • The Assistant Headmistress, Madam Daina Kanton, explained that the poor attendance was due to the festive celebrations and expressed the hope that more students will report before the first week was over.

157 boys and 171 females out of the 465 enrolled pupils attended the Tumu College of Education Demonstration Basic School.

Out of the 263 students enrolled, 120—78 girls and 42 boys—reported to the Falahia Basic School.
