GES Issues Warning Against Unapproved Prospectus and Unauthorized Sale of Items by Some SHS.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released an update warning against the heads of some senior high schools who are allegedly selling free items meant for students supplied by the government. The GES has issued a disclaimer that the practice is prohibited and must be stopped immediately.

The Management of the Ghana Education Service takes strong exception to this practice and has warned that any head of school caught demanding any item(s) aside from the approved ones will be severely sanctioned. To ensure that the right things are done in our schools, investigations will soon commence into the issues.

The GES is cautioning the Heads of Second Cycle Schools to stick to the approved harmonized prospectus for students. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to buy the approved items on the prospectus from the open market, not in schools, to avoid any conflict of interest on the part of the school authorities.

Effective and efficient education is a shared responsibility. Thus, the GES urges all stakeholders to support the effort towards providing quality education to students.
