FIRST UPDATE TO THE MEDIA ON THE CONDUCT OF THE WASSCE FOR SCHOOL CANDIDATES, 2022
INTRODUCTION
Four hundred twenty two thousand, eight hundred and eighty three (422,883) applicants from 977 schools in Ghana are taking the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2022 (exclusive to Ghana). There are 304 private schools and 673 public schools in the system.

Twenty-two public schools participated in this year’s assessment, up to eighty-three in 2021 and 673 in 2022. The number of private schools that submitted candidates for this year’s test decreased. It dropped to 304 in 2022 from 314 in 2021. 203,753 men and 219,130 women out of the total number of applicants who registered for this year’s exam. This is a drop of 5.25% from the 446,352 entry figure for 2021.
