Selorm Branttie, The Vice President of IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, has proposed that the government temporarily revert to the previous school curriculum until it can develop a more thorough plan for the new one.

During an interview, Selorm Branttie attributed the difficulties in providing resources to primary schools to improper planning for the new school curriculum.

He expressed concerns that this trend could further widen the knowledge gap among less privileged students.

Selorm Branttie explained that the government’s failure to provide stationery for the new curriculum, even months after its implementation, calls into question the level of research and preparation put into it.

He also expressed worries that the delayed textbooks will only create more challenges for students in underprivileged areas to catch up to their peers.

In light of these concerns, Selorm Branttie suggests that the government return to the previous curriculum while they devise a more strategic plan for the new one. This, he believes, will help prevent a widening knowledge gap among less privileged students.
