Essikado Masqueraders Announce 10-Year Anniversary Celebration

Representatives from the 10 Masquerading clubs in Essikado, Sekondi and Takoradi are preparing to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Essikado Ye Wo Adze Oye” Masqueradors Carnival with a series of events that will culminate on January 2, 2023.

The festivities will commence on December 30, 2022, with a quiz competition at the Nana Nketsia School in Essikado, followed by a football gala among the 10 Masquerades Clubs at the Nana Nketsia Astro Turf Park.

On January 1, 2023, the Yewo Adze Oyie Fun Games will take place in the afternoon, featuring games such as ludo, oware, and cards, among other activities among the clubs.

The three-day celebration is being sponsored by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan, Mr Joe Ghartey, with support from the MP for Sekondi, Mr Andrew Agyaapa Mercer.

The 10 Masquerading clubs are preparing to showcase their talents and abilities through their performances, which are sure to captivate the audience from Essikado-Ketan and beyond.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Joe Ghartey, who founded the Essikado Street Carnival a decade ago, explained that the event was created to provide entertainment and stimulate economic activity in Essikado and its environs.

He expressed hope that the event would foster unity and peace by bringing people in the Constituency together. Additionally, he stated that the event will continue and be made even more lively to attract tourists.
