The management of the National Board of Education in collaboration with the Government of Ghana has stated that the procedures are very advanced to conduct entrance examinations for prospective candidates seeking admission into the Colleges of Education from the year 2023.

Divine Ayidzoe, Director General of the Ministry of Education, in interaction with stakeholders, said that the entrance exam to the Colleges of Education will be based on two basic subjects – mathematics and English.

Even licensing expands the data, how trained teachers who have written BECE and WASSCE, who have been audited at UCC and UEW, can write a single sentence. How will they know? The Ghanaian Teacher Licensing Examination was officially introduced in 2023 by the National Teaching Council to give teachers the certification required to practice in Ghana, but it has become a controversial topic in the country.
Some have suggested that instead of taking an exam, the curriculum program is revised to make licensure part of the course programme
The government has insisted there is nothing wrong with the process, but the opposition National Democratic Congress party said the method of delivering the exams was not the best.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Yau Osei Adutome, recently said that his institution is adopting new strategies aimed at reducing the failure rate recorded in teacher licensing exams. This was in response to the fact that the majority of teachers who took exams in March 2021 failed at least two courses in the exams.
