The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) has advised the public to take measures as the country will face an escalation of dry and dusty weather conditions.

According to the report, on February 15, 2023, meteorological satellites picked up dust hoisted over Chad, Sudan, and Niger that had been brought into the nation by powerful winds at lower altitudes of the atmosphere.

Eric Asuman, an official of Ag. The agency’s director general recommended the public adopt the following safety measures because of the weather: Drink plenty of water and observe all fire safety rules.

“Cover foods and water to prevent dust from settling on them, wash fruits thoroughly before taking them and people allergic to dust are to wear nose masks to reduce the effect on them. ”

According to the statement, relative humidity during that time had varied between 15% and 50%, with visibility ranging from 200 meters to 5,000 meters.

It warned that it would take some time before the dryness and reduced visibility were fully gone.

In November 2022, the Ghana Meteorological Agency issued the first Harmattan Season Advisory, predicting, among other things, dry weather, clear sky, warm days, and the predominance of tiny dust particles suspended in the atmosphere.

In most areas of the country, the harmattan season would last until late February or early March, with variations in the severity of the dry and dusty weather throughout the season.
