The Education Act of 2008 (Act 778), Section 9, empowers the National Teaching Council to enhance the professional standing and status of teachers, as well as license and register teachers in Ghana.
Announcement has been made for the National Teaching Council (NTC) Examinations Registration for the 2023/2024 period, and interested candidates can now commence the application process.
The registration period will commence in March 2023 and will last for approximately one to two weeks. The examination itself is scheduled to begin in May 2023.
New applicants intending to take the licensure examination must pay GHS3.50, while candidates who wish to re-sit one, two, or all three papers are required to pay GHS300 or GHS150 per paper, respectively.
Who Can Write the Licensure Examination?
The following individuals are eligible to write the licensure examination: those with a Diploma in Basic Education (DBE), a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PDGE) who are seeking employment with the Ghana Education Service. Additionally, all teachers who attempted the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination in 2021 but failed in one, two, or all three papers must register to re-sit the specific paper(s) they failed.
To apply for the GTLE 2023 Licensure Exams, candidates must first make a payment of GHȻ350.00 as a registration fee for the examination. Re-sitting candidates are required to pay GHȻ150.00 per re-sit paper. Payment should be made at any GCB Bank Ltd branch nationwide. After payment, the bank will provide a PIN and Serial Number. Candidates must then visit the website https://ntc.gov.gh/ to activate their account and complete the application process, including uploading a passport-size photograph. Once all fields have been filled in and reviewed, candidates can submit the application and print a summary of the information provided.
Candidates are advised to keep their PIN and SERIAL NUMBERS secure after completing the registration, as they will be required after the examination.
The registration fee for the 2023 NTC Licensure Exams is GH¢350.00 for new applicants. Re-sitting candidates will pay GH¢150.00 for one re-sit paper, GH¢300.00 for two re-sit papers, and GH¢350.00 for all three re-sit papers.
To obtain a GTLE (March 2023) voucher, it can be purchased from any GCB or Prudential Bank branch nationwide.
The deadline for NTC Registration 2023 is in April 2023. Completed application forms must be submitted online by this date. Please note that there will be no extension of the registration period beyond the deadline.
The 2023 NTC Licensure exams will commence in May 2023.
