Christian Atsu Twasam: Arrival of Christian Atsu’s mortal remains in Ghana

The deceased former Black Stars star Christian Atsu Twasam’s mortal remains will be sent to the government of Ghana, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

The remains will travel with his family and Ghana’s ambassador to Turkey on a Turkish Airlines flight that lands in Accra at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday.

As the remains come from Istanbul, Türkiye, the family, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and the government will receive them at Kotoka International Airport.

The 31-year-old was found dead on February 18 after spending 12 days buried beneath the debris.

Atsu, a former player for Chelsea FC, Newcastle United, and Everton in the UK, perished in the earthquake that devastated Turkey and Syria on February 6 and left over 40,000 people dead.

The gifted athlete was playing for Turkey’s Hatayspor FC at the time of the terrible event.
