News reports have revealed that a significant number of individuals from Burkina Faso have fled to Ghana due to recent attacks by suspected terrorists in their home country.

These refugees, mainly consisting of women and children, have established makeshift camps in the Bawku West municipality in the Upper East Region of Ghana, facing dire circumstances with limited access to shelter, food, and water.

Ghana’s Security and Defense Forces have taken measures to enhance security along the border with Burkina Faso while closely monitoring the situation.

An emergency meeting of the Upper East Regional Security Council was also held, where top security commanders discussed the situation and approved requests for air support if necessary.

In recent weeks, approximately 2000 refugees have arrived in Ghana, with a recent visit to one of the camps by a reporter revealing the refugees’ pleas for assistance.

The refugees have been sleeping in the cold for over two weeks with limited resources and are in urgent need of aid. The displacement of the Burkinabes is a direct result of weeks of violence in nearby communities in Burkina Faso
