Nigerian presidential candidate Peter Obi of the Labour Party has expressed concern over an alleged attack on his supporters ahead of a rally in Lagos on Saturday. The incident resulted in injuries and damages to vehicles with Labour Party stickers. In a statement, Obi called for a thorough investigation by the police and emphasized the importance of avoiding violence in political opposition. He stressed that leaders should refrain from using inflammatory language that might contribute to such incidents.

The footage of the aftermath of the alleged attack was shown on local television stations and received medical attention. The local police are yet to provide any official comment on the matter.

At the rally, Peter Obi outlined his plans for the country if elected, including the reform of the police, an end to oil thefts in the Niger Delta, and better security for farmers to support agriculture. He is a leading contender in the polls, with a considerable support base from young voters seeking a better future. The presidential and parliamentary election is scheduled for February 25th, and Peter Obi will compete against two other candidates, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the People’s Democratic Party.
