ARIPO Young Professionals Programme: $2,500 Monthly Stipend for African Graduates

About ARIPO Young Professionals Programme

The ARIPO Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is calling for applications from African graduates of its Member States who are interested in a two-year fellowship. This programme offers participants the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience and training in various aspects of Intellectual Property (IP), as well as leadership and administrative roles. The goal is to nurture the potential of young professionals from different academic backgrounds, empowering them to contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of Africa.

Selected candidates will receive various benefits, including monthly stipends, travel support, leave allowances, medical insurance, and a one-off grant. Benefits of ARIPO Young Professionals Programme

The fellowship provides an extensive range of benefits to its participants, including a monthly stipend of US$2,500.

Additionally, a once-off settling-in grant equivalent to one month’s stipend is given on appointment to help cover initial expenses.

Free travel is provided both to and from the host country, with the cost of travel covered by the fellowship. Medical aid is also provided, with the employer covering 80% of the cost and the participant covering 20%.

Annual leave, sick leave, and compassionate leave are available to participants as well. Group life, funeral, and accident cover is also provided to ensure the safety and well-being of fellows.

Finally, a once-off repatriation grant equivalent to one month’s stipend is given to participants upon completion of the program

The ARIPO Young Professionals Programme (YPP) will be held in the vibrant city of Harare, Zimbabwe at the ARIPO Headquarters for a duration of two years.

Qualification Requirements

The ARIPO Young Professionals Programme (YPP) has specific eligibility criteria that must be met by applicants. These include

  • holding a first degree in Law (LLB), Botany, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Economics, or Statistics that was obtained no more than five years prior to the date of application.
  • Applicants must also have strong planning, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently.
  • creativity and innovativeness, as well as strong digital literacy, are important qualities.
  • Applicants must also be no more than 28 years of age at the time of application.
