The National Communications Authority (NCA) has officially given the green light for the transfer of 70% majority shares in Vodafone Ghana from Vodafone Group Plc to the Telecel Group. This transfer was subject to conditions outlined in the conditional approval of the transfer of shares, which have now been fulfilled, including the agreement of the Government, who remains the 30% minority shareholder.

The NCA previously announced on January 16, 2023, that it had granted conditional approval for the transfer of Vodafone Ghana’s majority shares to Telecel Group, subject to concessions made by Vodafone Group Plc and representations made by the buyer to the NCA.

In accordance with the existing license conditions of Vodafone Ghana, the Authority will continue to oversee the takeover process while ensuring that the interests of consumers are a top priority. The statement emphasizes that due process will be followed in the interest of all parties involved.
