The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology has given prominent recognition to well-known Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kofi Kinaata for his contributions. Academics still debate his lyrics.
The Hiplife artist’s song “Things Come Apart” has been approved for level 200 pupils, according to a tweet from Voice of KNUST.
They pointed out that the song was chosen due to Things Fall Apart’s literary techniques and poetic arrangements of its stanzas.
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s (KNUST) English Department has used Kofi Kinaata’s body of work as part of course materials for students four times in the past seven years.
Susuka, a hit song from 2016, was recommended in 2016, Confession, a hit song from 2018, was recommended in 2018, and Things Fall Apart, a hit song from 2019, joined the group four years later in 2022.
Things Fall Apart is making its way into academia, just like his ‘Confession,’ which was full of literary and lyrical stanza arrangements. All of these songs have earned him the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Songwriter of the Year award. He is the only artist to have won Songwriter of the Year four times.
When properly executed and filled with literary strategies like rhyme, metaphors, alliteration, and others, music can greatly aid pupils while also amusing them, making it good enough to be studied.
The news has received a lot of feedback from tweeps who have stumbled over it; many have congratulated the rapper and described it as a huge victory.
