All qualified applicants are now completing the fundamental requirements and steps to enter the Google PhD Fellowship Program 2023 Portal for African Students.
Google PhD Fellowship Program Advantages
Successful students are given named Fellowships, which come with a $10,000 prize given out over the course of three years.
Each student will be paired with a Google Research Mentor, who we hope will turn out to be a great help to them.
Qualifications for the Google PhD Fellowship Program
Candidates must be full-time Ph.D. students in an African institution of higher learning that has been authorized. Those who are transferring to full-time positions while enrolled in their first year of a part-time Ph.D. program are also encouraged to apply.
The students should be in their first year of their doctoral program, or early stage Ph.D. students. The commencement date of the applicant’s program for the 2023 Fellowship must be on or after January 1, 2023.
For the term of the Fellowship, students must continue their enrollment in the Ph.D. program, or they risk losing their prize.
Ph.D. candidates must be enrolled in computer science or a related field.
Note: Google workers and their families are not permitted to apply. Students who have received a corporate fellowship before are not eligible.

- CV of applicant with publications links (if available).
- The student’s PhD program advisor’s one-page CV.
- Transcripts (mark sheets) from the first year or semester of the bachelor’s degree are currently available.
- study proposal (maximum two pages).
- three letters of support from individuals with experience in the applicant’s field of endeavor (at least one coming from the thesis adviser in case of current PhD students). The recommendation writers can mail the letter directly to [email protected] with the subject “Recommendation for [applicant-name]” if they wish to send it independently.
