2023/2024 MINDS Scholarship Programme

This is to let the general public know that all qualified applicants may still apply for the MINDS Scholarship Programme 2023/2024 Portal.

The Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) is a pan-African think tank that offers a welcoming forum for communication, knowledge sharing, and networking.

In order to influence policy and practice on crucial issues of governance, integrated economic development, and the development of African institutions, our programs are supported by rigorous research into all facets of African heritage.

Application Process for MINDS Scholarship Program

  • In order to be eligible for a MINDS Scholarship, you must:
  • Be an African national who resides in any African country
  • possess received official acceptance from one or more MINDS-recommended institutions outside of your country of citizenship or residence
  • possess received official acceptance from one or more MINDS-recommended institutions to pursue postgraduate studies in the upcoming year.
  • have completed your last two years of study with at least 70% in each subject or course
  • Create a proof of your demonstrated leadership skills or potential using the application form’s questions and requirements as a guide.
  • Complete the online application form (see below) and upload all necessary supporting documents.

Required Documents for the Application

  1. Uploaded files must all be in PDF format. No attachment should be larger than 2MB.
  2. A copy of the data/ bio page of your passport.
  3. a certified copy of your last two years’ worth of grades or results.
  4. a duplicate of the university’s formal letter of acceptance.
  5. The correspondence must: Be written to the applicant.
  6. Mention the level of acceptance for the applicant to the program.
  7. Mention the academic year that the degree will be awarded.
  8. Indicate how long the course will last (e.g. one year).
  9. a photocopy of a valid student visa or permit OR evidence of application. (Optional)
  10. a thorough resume or CV that is no longer than four (4) single-sided pages.
  11. Two letters of recommendation, each no longer than three pages, should speak to the applicant’s moral character, leadership abilities, and dedication to the advancement of Africa.
