General Eligibility for the Scholarship Application Portal for the MasterCard Foundation
- Applicants should be citizens from Africa.
- Candidates must be from economically underprivileged backgrounds and exhibit financial necessity.
- Applicants should exhibit leadership potential and should be involved in a project that helps others, such as one in their community, school, church, etc.
- Academic performance is crucial, and students must always maintain a high grade-point average.
The MasterCard Foundation Scholarship
Students who have applied to and been accepted into one of the following programs at the University of Pretoria are eligible for a full scholarship from the Mastercard Foundation:
- Natural and Agricultural Sciences Faculty
- Economic and Management Sciences Faculty
- Faculty of Humanities for BPolSci admission (Political Studies or International Studies only)
- Engineering fields will accept applications for honors and master’s degrees (continuing students only).
Selection Guidelines for MasterCard Foundation Scholarships
- The selection process will emphasize prior academic accomplishment as well as the applicant’s compatibility with the Program’s ethos, which emphasizes leadership and community development for Africa in addition to academic success.
- Qualified candidates must be dedicated to finishing their education in the shortest amount of time, moving back to their home countries, and giving back to the communities where they were raised.
How to Apply on the Scholarship Application Portal for the MasterCard Foundation
Initially, go to the Application Portal at the MasterCard Foundation website.
A minimum of 250 words should be included in the essay or motivational letter applicants submit, along with a copy of their medical certification.
Also, applicants must send a scan of their high school or university diploma, their curriculum vitae (in Europass format), and their transcripts from the past two academic years.
A letter of recommendation from the neighborhood parish or church community should be included with the application.
