Volta Region: Refueling for vehicles without fire extinguishers will be prohibited

By | 16 February 2023

The Volta Region Fire Service has announced that from early 2023, it will deny access to fueling stations to vehicles lacking fire extinguishers.

Drivers had until January 30, 2023, to purchase appropriate fire extinguishers, following which a compliance campaign will be launched and maintained, according to him.

When he oversaw a vehicle inspection exercise at fueling stations in the Ho Municipality, Mr. Joy Ayim Ameyibor, the Volta Regional Commander of the Service, informed the media of the intended operation.

Mr. Ameyibor suggested, among other things, that gas bottles not be kept in populated spaces and that they should always be kept as far away from active fire apparatus as feasible.

Along with reminding everyone to always start stoves and other fire sources safely, he also emphasized that passengers must always insist on getting off the plane before vehicle refueling procedures.

The filling station’s management, which had recently recovered from a fire mishap, told the media that they were prepared to support the scheduled exercise and that they would assist all efforts to ensure safety.

The gas station has revolutionized gas refueling by separating the operations to reduce damage in the event of a fire.
