Surgery is a branch of medicine that physically penetrates a patient’s body using manual and/or instrumented techniques in order to examine or treat pathological conditions like disease or injury, to change bodily functions to enhance appearance (cosmetic surgery)
or to remove/replace unwanted tissues like body fat, glands, scars, skin tags, or foreign bodies. Typically, the subject undergoing surgery is a person (i.e., a patient), although it is also possible for it to involve a non-human animal (i.e., veterinary surgery).
A surgical treatment, operation, or the word “surgery” itself may be used to refer to the act of doing surgery. A surgeon and a surgical assistant work together to complete most surgical procedures. The surgeon serves as the primary operator while the surgical assistant assists with physical labor as needed.
An anesthetist, a surgical assistant, a scrub nurse (who handles sterile equipment), a circulation nurse, a surgical technician, and an anesthetist are often required for modern surgical procedures.
Surgery is regarded as invasive, and recovering from the iatrogenic harm caused by the procedure sometimes necessitates postoperative care (including intensive care).

The University of Ghana’s medicine department receives a considerable number of applicants each year, making acceptance into the university to pursue Surgery courses extremely competitively. Even if a candidate satisfied the basic requirement, admission to the university may not be successful.
Students who wish to enroll in the University of Ghana’s Surgery program must have three elective credits—preferably elective mathematics, elective biology, elective physics, and elective chemistry—along with credits in mathematics, integrated science, and English.

Is D7 to F9 accepted to study the Bachelor of Surgery Course at the University of Ghana?
The University of Ghana does not recognize D7, E8, or F9 grades for admission. Candidates with D7 to F9 results must take the WAEC private test in order to improve their D7, E8, or F9 topics.
