Tragic incident: 10-year-old boy dies from electrocution in Beppoh, Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality.
A tragic incident occurred in Beppoh, in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipality of the Western Region, where a 10-year-old boy, Emmanuel Ampomaah, lost his life due to electrocution.
Emmanuel was a primary four pupil of Beppoh Methodist primary school, and he usually assisted his visually impaired mother. Madam Florence Sagoe, his mother, received the sad news of her son’s death while at home.
Mr. Thomas Enyam, the Assembly Member of Beppoh Electoral Area, confirmed the incident, stating that on January 7, 2023, around 1300 hours, Emmanuel went out to play with his friends. While playing, he saw an electrical cable hanging between two stores, and out of curiosity, he inserted it into his mouth, which resulted in his fall.
Some residents in the neighbourhood rushed to the scene upon hearing about the incident, and they were able to remove the live cable from Emmanuel’s mouth. They took him to the Beppoh health centre for treatment, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead. The Bogoso Divisional Police Command was informed, and a police team assessed the situation.
The body has since been deposited at the Bawdie morgue in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality for preservation and autopsy.
