To All BECE Students: New and Important WAEC Message

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC desires to alert the public about the actions of some individuals who falsely identify themselves as WAC employees and offer to improve candidate results in exchange for payment.

These persons have created numerous techniques of interacting, including as phone calls and the use of social media platforms to attract victims to pay money usually via mobile money transfers.

The Council hereby issues a warning to the public, stating that the aforementioned actions amount to attempts at public deception.

The public is reassured by WAEC that its database is safe and that its confirmation/verification mechanism can spot any tampering with data or outcomes.

The West African Examinations Council wants to warn the general public about the behavior of some people who falsely claim to work with WAC and promise to raise candidate scores in exchange for money.

These individuals have developed a variety of ways to communicate, such as phone calls and the use of social networking sites to persuade victims to make payments, typically through mobile money transfers.

The Council hereby gives notice that the aforementioned actions constitute attempts at public deceit and warns the public as a result.

Institutions and organizations are also advised to confirm or verify results presented to them directly by the Council by logging into the online verification service at www.waecgh.org or scanning the encrypted QR Code on the results print-out with a downloaded version of the “WAEC GH QR Code Reader” on their smartphone.

The Council requests that members of the public contact the police, their local WAEC office, or call 054 015 7979 or 0302 208 166 to denounce the actions of these scammers.
