Basically, the goal of physiotherapy is to improve a patient’s mobility, function, and overall well-being. Physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness are all benefits of physiotherapy. Physiotherapists engage you in your own healing.

In order to train physiotherapists for a four-year Bachelor of Science degree program, the University of Ghana’s department of Physiotherapy was founded in 2001 as a constituent of SAHS. 13 of the 15 students who started the program in the academic year 2001/2002 finished it successfully, and they graduated in 2005.

The start of the program was required by Ghana’s obvious demand for rehabilitation services to properly train physiotherapists. The Ghanaian government, through the Ministry of Health (MOH), occasionally supported a select group of Ghanaians to pursue physiotherapy training overseas before the launch of this program.

Around three hundred (300) physiotherapists have graduated from the school since the start of the physiotherapy program in 2001, and they now provide curative and rehabilitative care to an increasing number of patients throughout Ghana and abroad.
