About University of Ottawa
The University of Ottawa, sometimes known as uOttawa or U of O, is a multilingual public research university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its French name is Université d’Ottawa. The main campus is situated in the Sandy Hill neighborhood, 42.5 hectares (105 acres) just northeast of Downtown Ottawa and across the Rideau Canal.
The College of Bytown was the original name of the university when it was founded in 1848 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa’s first bishop, Joseph-Bruno Guigues. It was given the name College of Ottawa in 1861 after being placed under the control of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. Five years later, a royal charter granted it university status. The university was reorganized on July 1, 1965, as a corporation, independent from any outside body or religious organization.
The largest bilingual institution of higher learning in both English and French is the University of Ottawa. The university has 10 colleges, including the Telfer School of Management, the University of Ottawa Faculty of Social Sciences, the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, and the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. These schools together provide a wide range of academic programs.
Scholarship Offers For African Students
African students who meet the necessary qualifications and are studying full-time at the University of Ottawa in an undergraduate degree are invited to apply for the Excellence Scholarship. At the time of enrollment, those who qualify for the scholarship may earn up to $25,000. There are still open applications for this offer.
The variety of Ottawa University’s foreign student body is important to the university. Therefore, this fellowship is available to foreign students who are nationals of African countries for the current academic year.
African students who are accepted into one of the designated undergraduate programs in the faculties of engineering, science, or social sciences are eligible for the Excellence Scholarship Award.
Award Benefits
- According to the program, this significant financial help lowers the students’ tuition costs by $17,500 to $25,000 each year.
- Once registered, this scholarship will be immediately awarded to all qualified students. It will be directly deducted from their tuition costs.
