How to Apply for OAU Change of Course for Students

The computer center of OAU is delighted to announce that the institution’s admissions unit is currently open for applications regarding the first batch of change of course requests for the upcoming 2022/2023 session. This means that if you are an interested individual looking to transfer to another department within the university, now is the perfect time to do so. However, we understand that many students are unaware of the process and necessary requirements involved in this transition. Requirements for OAU Internal Change of Course

To initiate the change of course process, applicants are required to attach the following documents to the change of course form, which can be downloaded from the Computer Centre Website:

1. Your SSCE result(s) that were presented during the screening in your first year.
2. Your university results from the harmattan semester of your first year until the harmattan semester of the 2022/2023 session (signed and stamped by the department).
3. Receipt obtained from the cash officer after paying a fee of ₦7,500 through Remita. If you need assistance with your payment, feel free to consult with us.

Criteria for Changing Your Course of Study

Before proceeding with the application, please ensure that you meet the following criteria:

1. You must have completed a minimum of two (2) semesters.
2. Your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) should not be below 1.0.
3. You will be required to satisfy the minimum and special entry requirements for the course/programme to which you are seeking transfer.

Procedure to Apply for OAU Change of Course

To successfully apply for a change of course at OAU, please follow these steps:

1. Confirm your eligibility for transfer: Consult your department’s advisor to confirm whether your department can release you and if the receiving department is currently accepting new students. Please note that the FNCS department is currently not releasing students from their department.
2. Make the Remita payment of ₦7,500 for the change of course. If you require assistance or prefer to visit in person, you can consult with us or visit Shekinah Cafe at the SUB.
3. Download the change of course form from the computer center website.
4. Students applying for a change of course must fulfill the minimum and special entry requirements for the course/programme they wish to transfer to. It’s important to note that no student will be allowed to transfer to a programme for which their initial qualifications are inadequate.
5. Fill out the form carefully: Complete Section A of the form yourself and have the Guidance Counsellor complete Section B (available on Print 2). Return the form to the Admissions Office along with a photocopy of the payment receipt obtained from the Cash Office.
6. Attach the necessary documents: Students applying for a change of course must include photocopies of their up-to-date sessional examination results with their applications. In cases where the sessional result is not immediately available, applicants should arrange to submit it to the Admissions Office as soon as it becomes available. However, please note that the processing of Change of Course applications is contingent upon the submission of the original up-to-date semester examination results and photographs. Copies of WASC, GCE ‘O,’ and ‘A’ Levels Certificates, which applicants presented during their initial admission to the University, are also required.
7. Obtain the necessary signatures from the heads of the sending and receiving departments (Dean/Provosts).

Important Notes to Consider

Please take note of the following points during the change of course process:

1. All students sponsored by agencies or organizations for specific courses must submit letters from their sponsors granting them permission to change their courses. These authorization letters should be returned along with the completed application forms before the closing date. Failure to provide these letters will result in the rejection of their applications.
2. Students pursuing an Ed. (Physical Education) degree are not allowed to change their course of study.
3. If it is discovered at any point that false or misleading information has been provided on the application or in connection with it, the applicant will be disqualified and may be required to face the University’s Disciplinary Committee.
