Students will receive a laptop, internet access, and have the ability to access virtual laboratories and libraries since this is an online and remote learning institution. Where necessary, opportunities for research and education will be facilitated. Studies will be tailored to meet the needs of learners, especially female learners. There will be the possibility for tests to be taken on demand, and students will be able to take them from the comfort of their own homes. The scholarship fund is worth $3000 for Masters students, $4000 for Doctoral students, and $100 for Short Courses.

Scholarship Opportunities and Priority Fields

NOUN-ACETEL is providing ten (10) scholarship opportunities for Masters students, five (5) for Doctorate Degree students, and forty (40) for Short Courses annually. The scholarship program is geared towards fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Management Information System, Short Courses, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Block Chain, Open Government Data, Database Management, Data Analysis, Artificial Intelligence, English Language for non-English Speakers, Digital Literacy, Cyber Security, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Project Management, Learning Technology, and Programming in C, Python, and Java.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

Every scholarship recipient must maintain a GPA of 4.5 or higher throughout the program’s duration. The scholarship funds can only be used for the purposes specified in the award letter, such as registration, examination, research, publication, data, and laptops. Recipients of scholarships are required to complete their studies within the minimum timeframe specified for the program.

Requirements for NOUN-ACETEL Scholarship

The NOUN-ACETEL postgraduate scholarship and short course award is open to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Citizen of an African country
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent for Masters and Doctorate Degrees, or a minimum of 5 credits at O’levels for short courses
  • Demonstrate a clear plan on how the scholarship will be used to improve reform in their home countries
  • Satisfactory English or French proficiency to fully participate in a training course delivered in English or French
  • Meet all the Nigerian Government’s requirements for the appropriate student visa

Targeted Group

Applications are encouraged from nationals of African Countries, especially countries within the West African sub-region (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte D’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo). Females of such countries are particularly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and will be given priority. The scholarship is open to professionals working in the Public Sector, the Private Sector or a Non-Governmental Organisation (Civil Society). The scholarship is also available to qualified candidates who wish to undertake a Masters degree or Doctorate degree in one of the listed priority fields of study. Applicants must have a clear vision of how they will use the knowledge and training gained through the programme to improve reform in their proposed field of study.

Short Courses Application Requirements

Short Courses: To apply for a NOUN-ACETEL scholarship for short courses, applicants must have at least five (5) O/level credits or an equivalent qualification, which must include English or French Language.

Master’s Degree (MSc)

Applicants for the NOUN-ACETEL scholarship for Master’s degree must have obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification in their first degree or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, they must possess at least five (5) O/level credits or an equivalent qualification, which must include English or French Language.

PhD:

For NOUN-ACETEL scholarship for Doctorate degree, applicants must have obtained a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) or an equivalent qualification in their first degree, and have a CGPA of 4.5 at MSc level. Applicants must also submit a research proposal of not more than five (5) pages, including topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection. Additionally, they must possess at least five (5) O/level credits or an equivalent qualification, which must include English or French Language.
