Master’s and Ph.D.: How to Apply for Asia Development Bank Internship Program

While continuing its efforts to end extreme poverty in the region, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) envisions an Asia and the Pacific that is wealthy, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.

Graduate students can get experience through project-based learning opportunities like the Internship Program, which is based on the operational needs of ADB at the time. ADB posts internship openings twice a year and encourages enthusiastic, adaptable, and self-driven people to apply.

Conditions for Eligibility

  • Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for the Asia Development Bank Internship Program:
  • be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program at a university in an ADB member country before and after the internship assignment.
  • be enrolled in an academic program in a subject that is closely relevant to the job of ADB.
  • possess nationality of an ADB member
  • have a strong command of English
  • possess expertise pertaining to the job

Application Method

Those who meet the requirements should use the ADB Career and Employment Portal to apply online (ACES).

The assignments are posted on the ADB website, and candidates select the assignments they are interested in.

Applicants submit their applications via ACES, prepare their resumes, and respond to the essay prompts.

All application materials (including a resume and essay) are posted to ACES.

Applicants are urged not to submit their internship applications on the final day of the application process to avoid mistakes in submission.

Applications are assessed by ADB based on the following criteria: eligibility requirements, the applicability of academic studies and job history, and the degree of desire and motivation to contribute to development activities.
In the overall selection process for interns, ADB also takes institutional representation, gender balance, and nationality into account.
