Crop and Soil Sciences is concerned with crop production and soil management. It is the study and use of plant and soil sciences in order to produce abundant, high-quality food, feed, and fiber crops. Agronomy, Crop Biotechnology, and Soil Science are the three concentrations available to students.
As an undergraduate, you will have numerous opportunities for hands-on study. Students can participate in initiatives such as plant breeding for food, oil, and other applications, soil health science, small farm operations, and more.
While your obligatory internship will expose you to the various employment opportunities open to you after graduation. Student clubs will help you improve your leadership skills, preparing you for a rewarding career in agronomy, soil science, or plant breeding.

Under graduate Candidates
Individuals interested in pursuing a Crop and Soil degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) must have credit passes (A1-C6) in three electives as well as credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects: English, core mathematics, integrated science, and social studies.
Post Graduate Candidates
The MPhil degree in the Department requires a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or a similar area from a recognized university. Applicants with First or Second Class (Upper Division) degrees are given preference.
Applicants for PhD programs should generally hold an MSc or MPhil degree in the relevant discipline. Furthermore, all applicants must pass an interview conducted by the Departmental Board.
