The management of Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all staff due for a promotion that the shortlist for applicants eligible to write the aptitude test for Promotion Ranks Principal Superintendent, Assistant Director II, Assistant Director I, and Deputy Director has been completed.
The proposed date for the Aptitude test will be 28th February and 1st March 2023 simultaneously in all regions.
Areas Tested for GES Promotional Aptitude
The following tests will be given to employees seeking promotions to the positions of Principal Superintendent and Assistant Director I and II.
- understanding between the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education
- Administration of the school/classroom and learning theories
- Assessment and Evaluation
- Current events, current affairs, and general knowledge
In addition to the tests mentioned above, candidates for the Deputy Director grade will also take a test in education administration and management. The examination will run for 40 to 1 hour (maximum). These questions have numerous choices.
Notice to GES Promotion Exam Candidates
Shortlisted applicants should keep the following in mind:
1. Index Numbers of qualified candidates who have been shortlisted have been sent via SMS to the mobile phone numbers provided on the application form.
2. Index and names All candidate numbers are available at all regional education offices and examination centres; please double-check your information at least three (3) working days before the exam.
3. The following exam centres have been designated for candidates with special needs (particularly visually impaired candidates):
Wesley College in Kumasi, Presbyterian College of Education in Akpropong, and NKA College of Education in Wa are among the institutions.
4. Applicants who may require special assistance during the examination should contact and make all necessary arrangements at least three (3) working days before the examination.

Notice to GES Promotion Exam Candidates
Shortlisted applicants are to note the following:
1. Index Numbers of qualified shortlisted candidates have been sent by SMS to the mobile numbers provided on the application form.
2. Names and Index Numbers of all candidates are accessible at all regional education offices and examination centres: kindly check your details at least three (3) working days before the day of the examination.
3. The following centres have been dedicated to candidates with special needs (particularly visually challenged candidates) to write their exams: Wesley College – Kumasi, Presbyterian College of Education – Akpropong and NKA College of Education – Wa.
4. Candidates who may need special assistance during the examination should make all the necessary contacts and arrangements at least three (3) working days before the day of the examination.
